Our Horsemanship Camps offer campers a great opportunity to develop safe and solid horsemanship skills on and off the horse. Whether they are in the barn, in the arena, or on the trail, campers practice many aspects of horsemanship and horse care, from chores and grooming to developing a solid seat (Western or English) and good communication with their horses.

Camp sessions run for five hours each day, and at the end of each week, campers put on a show for their parents to demonstrate what they’ve learned. While everything horses is the main focus of the camp, camp time may include crafts, hanging out with the other farm animals, and cooling off in the creek.

Please note that our Horsemanship Camps are intended to provide a fun group horse farm experience and are not so much geared to achieve any particular riding goals. While each day includes at least an hour of riding time, and we certainly expect that regular riding will generally improve a rider’s abilities, camps will certainly not take the place of more concentrated riding lessons and should not be expected to do so.

To help each camper get the most out of our camps, we offer camps for many levels of experience. Please note that students who participated in a camp last year but have not had consistent riding experience since then may not be ready for the next camp level. If unsure, we may recommend a private lesson prior to the camp season to determine the best placement for your child. Be aware that we may also combine camps in order to have a full camp.

HORSE CAMP RIDING LEVELS

LITTLE BRITCHES, YOUNG RIDERS, AND BEGINNER CAMPS are for campers with little or no previous or regular horse experience. Little Britches is a 3 hour camp for beginning riders ages 6-7; Young Riders is for riders ages 7-9; Beginner is for beginning riders ages 9 and up; and Beginner 2 is for riders who have attended a Beginner camp and want to again this summer.

The STABLE program provides evidence based educational guidelines for the assessment and stabilization of sick infants in the post-resuscitation and pre-transport stabilization period. 70.2k Followers, 862 Following, 3,162 Posts - See Instagram photos and videos from Wiggle - Cycle.

INTERMEDIATE CAMP is for campers with at least 1 year of consistent riding experience. Campers should be comfortable grooming and tacking on their own, and be riding the trot with reasonable control.

ADVANCED CAMP is for campers who have at least 2 years of consistent riding experience. Campers should be able to independently tack up, be comfortable posting and gallop position at the trot, and have some experience at the canter.

JUNIOR INSTRUCTOR TRAINING CAMP is for campers 14 and older with at least 2 years of consistent riding experience. This camp is designed for riders who may want to teach lessons someday – maybe even at Hidden Hills! (JIT camp graduates are given priority when we are looking for Junior Instructors!) During the morning, campers will learn some teaching techniques and then practice with the Little Britches campers. In the afternoon, they will improve their own riding and horsemanship skills.

LEARN TO EVENT CAMP is a fun camp for experienced riders with their own horses to learn about the three phases of eventing: dressage, cross country jumping, and stadium jumping. Pasture board for the week is included in the camp price (HH boarders receive $50 off camp price).
